Recreating My Cozy Holiday Tree: A Step-by-Step Guide

This past holiday season, I designed a tree that brought pure magic into a sitting room centered around a cozy fireplace. The goal was warmth, texture, and timeless holiday charm. I started with a lush green base and layered in creamy velvet ribbon from D. Stevens, cascading it in soft, relaxed loops. From there, I built depth and interest with snowy pine needle picks, red berry accents, and green pine sprays for a touch of natural movement. Champagne foliage sprays and mercury-inspired crackled baubles added a touch of soft shimmer that tied everything together without overpowering the room.

The entire design came together with materials sourced from Shinoda Design Center, allowing me to play with quality textures and a luxurious palette. One detail that really grounded the whole look was the minky cream tree skirt—it softened the base and enhanced the “cozy by the fire” vibe. Faux presents wrapped in matte cranberry paper tucked beneath added a simple, elevated finishing touch. Layering was key to bringing this vision to life: ribbon first, then picks and sprays, followed by ornaments. The order ensures every element shines while contributing to the overall fullness and dimension.
