Naughty Or Nice?

This year’s “Naughty or Nice” tree brings a cheeky twist to classic holiday glamour. Inspired by vintage pin-up art and 1950s housewife advertisements, the design blends retro sass with timeless elegance. With a palette of bold reds, soft pinks, and glimmers of tinsel, the vibe feels like a flirty holiday cocktail party—where the line between polished and playful is perfectly blurred. To give the tree a lasting, custom touch, I transformed vintage holiday prints into canvas décor using mod podge—durable, reusable, and full of personality. It’s a nostalgic nod to an era when shopping lists were handwritten, heels were high, and the spirit of the season came with a wink. I guess you could say my goal was Betty Draper- but make it Christmas.
The creative vision started to take shape as I sourced decor from Shinoda Design Center and Aldik Home, two of my favorite go-tos for high-impact holiday materials. I was drawn to pieces that felt authentically retro but fresh—glossy ornaments, starburst motifs, and layered textures that could bring the mid-century mood to life. The addition of mint green accents helped modernize the palette and tied back to one of my biggest sources of inspiration: a charming Etsy art print by DexArt (@DexMex) featuring an atomic-era Christmas tree full of mod details and bold personality. That print became a guiding star for the tree’s direction, informing both the color story and overall feel. Every choice, from ribbon to ornament placement, was made to tell a story that’s imaginative, stylish, and just a little bit mischievous.
